We had a full day exploring Zion National Park. We learned the locals pronounce it Zye-Inn. Zion is a beautiful park located in the SW corner of Utah. It offers amazing car rides on the many miles roads that wind all over the park and seemingly right through the surrounding mountains in the heavens!

We continued to sight see as we drove further into the park, where we were planning to hike on some of the beautiful trails all over the park. We decided to take on the Valley Overlook Trail and parked on the side of the road at the entrance for the trail. From there we started on our way up a mile long hike that was dramatic and climbed high into the mountains and lead to an incredible vista at thhe top.

We did a second hike on the River Walk that led us along Virgin River that carved out the valley in Zion Park. There were so many beautiful views along the way. Here are some of those.

We came across this guy hunting for supper and these long horn sheep grazing as we made our way up the hiking trail. |
What a great day we had today hiking and driving all over Zion. We worked up a big appetite from all the hiking so we headed back to the town of Kanab (where we were staying) to have dinner. We happened into a restaurant right across the street from the hotel we were stying at. As luck would have it, it turned out to be something out of an old hollywood western. The name of the place is Parry Lodge and it was billed as Little Hollywood of the west. (You can google Parry Lodge for more information and history, its worth it)

The friendly folks we met at the Iron Horse restaurant tonight! Cute! |
Here are some of the photos from the restaurant on the property. It trully is an amazing place filled with so many photos on the walls of all the actors who stayed there and stared in the huge list of movies filmed in this area back in the day!

This is an amazing list of all the TV shows and movies that were filmed here! Who knew? We certainly didn't. We just stumbled upon Kanab, UT. It may be a quiet little town right now, but it has a lot to brag about. Definitely stay here if you are ever in the area. If you want to stay where the stars stayed when they were filming, the name of the hotel is Parry's. |
