Day 32 - Altus, OK

It has been a very interesting drive on I-40 across the top of New Mexico and the Texas panhandle to arrive in Altus, in the southwest corner of Oklahoma, where we are spending the night.

Here is a piece of trivia that most people don't know about Sandy. She lived in Altus, OK when she was around 3 years old. She doesn't remember any of it and doesn't know where she lived in Altus, but it's kinda cool to be here! Compared to the towns we drove through, Altus is not too bad. Amarillo, TX is the ONLY city was passed along the route. Lots and lots of open land, from Indian reservations to wind mill farms, to miles of cotton fields. There were a few small towns along the way, but many of the shops are abandoned and Hollis, OK looked like a ghost town. It's sad to see that this area of the country appears to be struggling, especially on the Indian reservations.
